I have been pretty disgusted with the NY Times since the run-up to the Iraq war. But the paper has just redeemed itself in my eyes.
The White House pressured the CIA to censor an opinion piece by Flynt Leverett this week. Officials in the White House insisted that the CIA redact information that is publicly available in newspaper and US government sources. The Times chose to print the piece as redacted, with an explanation by Leverett: Redacted Version of Op-Ed on Iran - New York Times.
The Times posts a list of live links so that you can go and read the redacted information for yourself, in the original sources (mostly the Washington Post).
The black lines remind all of us who love freedom that we must fight for it in our own country. Freedom in America in 2006 means the freedom to resist corrupt, moronic, fascist leaders who stole their way into power.
Impeach Bush and Cheney. Impeach them now.
