I appreciate your sympathetic take on cultural syncreticism. I was a student of English literature at UC Berkeley in the '90's when such borrowing was supposed to have been a sort of crime by the 'politically correct,' and I always wondered why.

IMO, "culture" should be understood in the same sense as "circulation," like blood circulation. Efforts to preserve its purity seem to me like efforts to achieve everlasting life with tourniquets on every limb plus the neck.

Syncretical architecture: what about the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lampur?
