Brad Delong, my mother-in-law, my brother, my teacher and neighbor Elmaz, and I are all voting for Obama today. In fact just about everybody I know is suddenly an Obama supporter. (OK Elmaz and my brother were in from the beginning).
I didn't ask my mother who she voted for (absentee ballot) and my husband hasn't told me what he's thinking just yet. We're disappointed Edwards fans.
Probably what tipped the balance for me was John Kerry's endorsement, because he gave solid reasons why he thinks Obama will make a good president. I thought I saw this as a Kerry diary on Daily Kos but I can't find the text now.
Moorish Girl's post also helped. Just talking "inspiration" and "moments" and "change" is not enough for me. However there was never any question in my mind of voting for Hilary. I would have pulled the lever for Edwards to give him delegates, or somebody else improbable. Or maybe my Obama vote was inevitable as soon as Edwards dropped. It's just that now I am voting FOR Obama, not just for the candidate by elimination.
I was in the same boat in NJ yesterday. I had been a Kucinich supporter, but ended up rather joyfully voting for Obama.
I was struck by how many people in my own circles were still undecided as of yesterday morning.
