Yesterday Phil Weiss posted a report from Jeffrey Blankfort that recounted the devastation of Ain al-Hilweh during Israel's war on Lebanon in June, 1982. That invasion was one of the biggest crises of my life, and I sent Weiss a strong note about it, which he asked me turn into a post:
Mondoweiss: Americans who wonder 'why they hate us?' should consider Ain al Hilweh in Lebanon.

Very informative posts by you and Juan Cole. We Americans certainly do not know enough history to understand what's going on in the Middle East, let alone what's going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan. What do you think the prospects for improvement are under Obama now that he's named Clinton as Secretary of State? At least you get the impression that the Obama Administration will restore State to its previous position of influence instead of depending on the Defense Department to solve all problems.
By the way, MaryAnne Weaver's book on Pakistan, _In the Shadow of Jihad_, is excellent.

Hi Leila,
Your article gave me an opportunity to investigate stealth Zionism. You may be interested in my blog entry entitled Uncovering Stealth Zionists. It's URL is http://eaazi.blogspot.com/2009/02/uncovering-stealth-zionist-jewish.html .
